A freelance e-commerce manager is a digital expert who supports companies in their e-commerce journey.
They organize and execute vital administrative tasks essential for maintaining a thriving website.
It’s not uncommon for small B2B or B2C businesses to have an e-commerce website that nobody has time to update.
Without dedicated management, the e-commerce website can quickly become neglected, with outdated products, misconfigured modules, and missed opportunities.
If this scenario sounds familiar, it may be time to hire a freelance e-commerce manager!
When adding a consulting e-commerce manager to your team, the typical process involves:
When engaging a freelance e-commerce manager, concerns about cost and workload are understandable.
To accommodate various needs, Netsu offers two contract options.

Engage a freelance e-commerce manager for a fixed number of hours, tailored to fit your budget and requirements.
Benefits include:
For businesses with limited budgets, hiring an e-commerce manager on an as-needed basis offers flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
Benefits include:
An e-commerce manager will have a more holistic approach, including operative, day-to-day tasks related to optimizing or running your e-commerce website. For example, working with your admins to create new products.
An e-commerce PROJECT manager will focus on more development-oriented activities to achieve specific goals. For example, coordinate with web devs to install a new payment module, then set it up and test it prior to handing this over to you for approval.
Sometimes the line between the two gets blurred, and a client might need both services. For example, an e-commerce PROJECT manager finished to install a new blog module, but you still need an e-commerce manager to populate it.
Netsu can help you with both, with Retainer or Ad Hoc engagements.
We typically work with small businesses that are already established and trading offline.
Our ideal client might be at the beginning of their e-commerce adventure or be already selling online.
B2B companies, often family owned, are the ones we have worked with the most. Some of them also operated a B2C website/channel.
In anything we do at Netsu, we have an informal, hands-on approach. We prefer practice to theory, action to talking. If anyone makes a mistake, we want to focus on finding a solution rather than a culprit.
We see ourselves as part of your team, and we prefer environments were the communication is friendly and open, without politics or grandstanding.
At Netsu, we are platform-agnostic.
We are more experienced in Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce, but we have helped clients with WordPress / WooCommerce and Shopify as well.
As we tent to work on the smaller end of the SMB scale, we typically don’t work with entry-level platforms like Wix or complex enterprise installations.
In the long term, successful e-commerce companies develop a strong in-house team comprising e-commerce managers, designers, developers, etc.
Yet, at many stages of a company’s lifespan, it might be way more beneficial to be able to count on a freelance. This can still grow in a long-term relationship, with all the advantages that come with familiarity, with the bonus that the engagement (and costs) can be scaled up or down.
Netsu is a fully remote company, with a team distributed in the UK (Edinburgh), Italy (Milan), and Poland (Poznan).
We recognize the value of meeting in person, but we don’t want to pass over to you any excessive travel costs.
If the chance arises (or if you are happy to cover travel costs), we will be happy to meet in person.
If you have any, we are happy to use your existing communication tools.
Typically, communication works with a project management program like Jira or Monday.com. Instant messaging, like Slack, is usually not enough as information can get lost.
We will also have regular catch-up calls.
We don’t code.
We will cooperate with the web developers of your choice, or we will find the ones that fit your needs. These can be offshore or in-country, depending on your requirements.
